Description of work carried out (detailed):
I was recently called to a customer’s home to install a wood burning stove into their closed fireplace. The customer had been using an open fire, but they wanted to switch to a wood burning stove to improve the efficiency and cleanliness of their heating system.

The first step was to choose the right stove for the fireplace. I measured the fireplace opening and chimney, and I consulted with the customer to find a stove that was the right size and type for their needs. I also made sure that the stove was certified to the relevant building regulations.

Once I had chosen the stove, I removed the fireplace surround. This allowed me to access the fireplace opening and chimney. I removed any loose mortar or bricks from the opening, and I made some minor adjustments to the opening to ensure that it was the correct size for the stove.

I then installed the stove. I fitted the stove tightly into the opening, and I sealed the opening with a fireproof sealant. I also installed a flue liner if the chimney did not already have one.

Once the stove was installed, I connected it to the flue. The flue was fitted with a damper to control the airflow, and it was sealed to prevent any smoke or fumes from escaping into the room.

Finally, I installed a hearth in front of the stove. The hearth was made of a non-combustible material, and it was large enough to prevent any sparks or embers from escaping from the stove.

The installation process was completed in a few hours, and the customer was very happy with the results. The new wood burning stove provides them with more heat, cleaner air, and reduced emissions.
